Hand Tooled Leather Coffee Table Part 2

Now that I have the leather cut I’m going to draw out my design and transfer it to the leather. Because I’m following a design from a piece of fabric I’ll have to modify it slightly to make it work for the leather. Test the design on the leather to see if it fits properly.

Now transfer the design to the leather. Slightly dampen the leather so it will readily accept the design when you redraw it on the design paper.

Now that the design has been transferred being careful not to punch through the paper during the transfer, cut the design using your swivel knife. Be sure to hold the knife perfectly perpendicular to the leather while cutting so there is no undercut.
