The icon of the Saturday of Lazarus shows Christ calling His friend Lazarus of Bethany to come out of the tomb who has died. (John 11:1-44)
Lazarus comes forth from the tomb, bound in the strips of burial cloth.
His sisters, Mary and Martha bow before Christ, expressing both their sorrow in the death of their brother, but also their faith in Christ as the Messiah and Son of God.
Christ’s disciples witnesses this miracle, as does the person who represents the crowd.
